Y Family (May 2014, Opening Weekend!)
As soon as we stepped out of our car, we felt like we hit the jackpot. The views in front and in back of the house are breathtaking, with water stretching to the horizons.
Inside the house, we found all that we could need and more. The décor was adorable, though both aesthetically and functionally vintage. We found a very thoughtful welcome bag and bottle of wine on the dining table as soon as we walked in. A variety of items found throughout the house make for a very comfortable and carefree stay (including a blender, coffee maker, coffee, a wide variety of DVD/VHS movies, and more). The kitchen was fully stocked with all of the essentials, as well as a great assortment of spices. It truly feels like your home away from home.
Fishing Creek is a modest town, but houses some of the friendliest people. There is only one general store and one restaurant – both terrific. We arrived at the general store five minutes after closing and they still opened the doors for us. The restaurant, Old Salty's, has fast, friendly, and accommodating service and the food is very good. Not to mention, the largest and cleanest oysters we have ever tried.
We spent much of our time relaxing and enjoying the amenities that the Haven provides. The screened porch makes for a wonderful place to have an outdoor dinner. The fire pit in the back kept us warm as we took in some of the most beautiful sunsets we have ever seen. We even caught a few crabs just off the dock up front, using the crab traps that Debi provided. Unfortunately, we found no luck with catching any fish.
Debi was out of town during our stay, yet she still provided wonderful service. Her responses to text messages and e-mails were always very prompt. She left the Haven very tidy for us, and included a detailed instruction manual that covered scenario we may have come across. It's obvious she puts a lot of thought into giving her guests a pleasant stay, and it surely pays off.
We really enjoyed our time at the Haven, and have already talked about a possible return trip in the future. Thanks Debi!

We came to this historic area to do some fishing. The house was well equipped with emphasis to detail. A great deal of creativity is evident once you step inside. You find yourself noticing the little things that make it an enjoyable stay. The town folks are very friendly. Everyone will give you advice if you ask. The bay views are fantastic. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Great weekend on Hoopers Island. Debi's place is welcoming and quite comfortable. We enjoyed the water, the quiet and down time and made friends with some neighbors.
If you are looking for a recharge, Debi's studio is a perfect getaway.
Take the trip up to Cambridge and Kool Ice for some Maryland crabs!

The apartment had plenty of room for the three of us, had everything you could possibly need and a few extras that were very thoughtfully left for us. The fire pit was fun at night and star gazing is particularly awesome - so many bright stars! Very relaxing and yet there is plenty to do. We loved kayaking at the Blackwater refuge! Amazing wildlife at Blackwater and at Hooper's Island. Enjoyed reading about the history of Hooper's Island too. Great weekend!

Accurate description of location, layout, and amenities. Very homey and it was exactly what we were looking for; restful, quiet, and plenty of available activities (when we wanted something to do). The place was clean and well-maintained with plenty of extra little amenities like soaps and sunscreen. Very responsive owners that provided great customer service. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone that would like a nice private getaway from daily busyness. We enjoyed the national wildlife refuge, as well as Cambridge. We drove down the island and took in the scenery. It was great to use the grill and watch the sunset. Highly recommend this spot!

We are from Amsterdam and after visiting Philadelphia & Washington DC, this was the place to relax before returning home. We liked it very much! We enjoyed the water, the weather and the silence after the crowds in the cities. Eat at Old Satly! Especially the roast beef is delicious! Thank you Debi for your hospitality!
