From Route 50, head towards Cambridge, there are a variety of entry "points," we suggest that you use one of the mapping programs to see your options before beginning your journey. The choices are:
- Meander through Historic Cambridge, (or choose this for one of your day trips), using the Maryland Ave. entry point. Check out Cambridge's parks and marina's, Cambridge is only 25-35 minutes away and an easy drive.
- Stop at the supermarkets on Rt. 50 and then come in using Rt. 16
- Bypass town using the Woods Rd route to connect to Rt. 16 quickly

Once you are on Rt. 16, you will pass Emily's Produce on the right hand side, if it is open, we encourage you to stop by to sample their wares. It is a wonderful fresh and local farmer's market with goodies galore!

As you leave Emily's please watch your speed as you go through Church Creek, they are SERIOUS about keeping your speed to 30mph! HOWEVER, this only lasts for a single mile, so just take a deep breath and enjoy the village scenes as they s-l-o-w-l-y roll by...until you see the Fire House.

From Church Creek, make a left onto Golden Hill Rd, (MD 355) you will then approach one of the most scenic byways in the mid Atlantic, as the road winds its way through portions of the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge.
From their website: "Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1933 as a waterfowl sanctuary for birds migrating along the critical migration highway called the Atlantic Flyway. Blackwater Refuge is located on Maryland's scenic Eastern Shore"

You will then pass by many pull offs where you can put in your small non motorized water craft. These paddling trips can take a few hours to an entire day, it is totally up to you. We have paddling and cycling maps at the Haven for you to use.

At the midway point (sort of) you will make a right when you see Gootee's Marine onto Hoopers Island Rd. Continue on until you approach the Bridge to Hoopers Island.

Before you cross the bridge, you will notice the public dock where you may put your larger motorized craft in. You are now just mere minutes from Hoopers Island Bayside Haven, stop at the General Store if you forgot anything, or think about Salty's for dinner if you don't want to cook tonight, as we are within walking distance!
